"This is the first book I have seen that takes a fairly stat-heavy approach to trading in-game tennis. It explains in detail the single most important concept in tennis betting -- relative hold and break percentages, which are used both pre-game and in-play for pricing. The author spends a great deal of time analyzing situations in-play that may have market inefficiencies. For example, how does a player do when facing a break-point at 0-40, compared to 0-30? Or how does a player's play change when up or down a set? It also gives a lot of practical tips on the execution of trading. This book gets a lot of things right. If you read, understand and apply the contents of this book, you are likely to win (and at least not lose) betting in-play tennis.;I have one criticism of the author's analysis. In many examples where stats are provided, the analysis is not robust. He does not consider how two samples he is comparing should be different in a vacuum. For example, the author defines a group of women's servers as "bad", and the group holds serve 56.6% of the time. When a bad server is serving to stay in a set (e.g., down 4-5) the serve hold rate drops to 54.9%. The author concludes that laying a bad server in such a situation may be advantageous. A better analysis would have estimated the bad server hold rate in that situation (given the player is down a game, that player on average is slightly worse than the opponent, and would be expected to have a slightly lower service hold rate for all games in the match, and not just that particular situation). This omission of conditional groups occurs throughout the entire book.;Despite my criticism of one methodological problem, this is well written and no other book out there comes close to covering this topic as well as this book. He is the author of numerous essays on the music of Haydn and Mozart, on the nineteenth-century symphony, and on the aesthetics and philsophy of music. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the William N. Reynolds Foundation. The fourth edition of his History of Music in Western Culture, a textbook for undergraduate music history suvey courses, was published by Pearson in 2013. A nice book on what is usually a commonly misunderstood matter.

This is a great book if you're looking to learn the secrets of witchcraft. No, no dirty secrets. No dark, twisted, evil secrets. A guide to break stereotypes and present you with the real world philosophy of witchcraft, and what it all means, or entails. So this book is a very good eye opener or breaker of illusions of grandeur that many people may have about witches. Or anyone purely interested in learning more about this, our of curiosity. Or if you are interested in becoming one (a witch).

So this book is perfect for a lot of different groups of people. I personally? I'm in a different group, I plan on using the wealth of information inside for one of my fiction stories, dealing with witches. I want to paint a more clearer picture than the usual stereotypes, and this book is going to be a great source for that. I highly recommend this piece to anyone. Its not complex, its not big or long, and its written in a simple, understandable manner.

This book is very short. I'd rather have bought it as an online read. It goes into the history of witchcraft and gives a few spells for the experienced witch to use. But it's missing important information on how to become attune to your 'inner witch'. It lists a few resources that you can explore online. I didn't need to the book to point them out.

Essential for Hematologists,Lab Professionals&Students Alike

This is the best color atlas I have seen. As a student, this has proven to be an invaluable tool in laboratory. I have recommended it to every other student in my laboratory. The photographs have amazing clarity and consistency. The text beginning each section and descriptive text following each photograph provides indispensable additional information for identification and understanding. It is very rare to see the backgrounds for each of the photographs a pristine white, so that the fine details can actually be distinguished. Each section is written with great care and with complete forethought. Even though this may not matter to many, but to me, the fact that is was spiral bound shows the amount of consideration to detail the author put into this atlas. There is nothing more frustrating then trying to keep a book open to the correct page, the ability for a book to be able to be lain flat on a table, and the having no problems with binding (e.g. broken binding resulting in loose pages). The comprehensive index helps you find a cell's information and/or photograph with just one quick glance. The amount of pages doesn't even begin to show the amount of knowledge that is encompassed in this book. You can believe this, as I go thru my student courses & when I begin my career as a clinical laboratory professional, this book with remain on my shelves as a ready-reference for any questions I may encounter along the way.

Don't get this book! This book says some girls are beautiful and some are not.

This review comes from my daughter who is 8 years old and who is dictating her review to me: "Warning: do not get this book. It does not give girls good ideas. It says 'how to stay on track and be true to yourself...blah blah blah..'. but then they have some really stupid ideas in there like 'if you're really popular, you need to have a boyfriend who is really popular'. Not true at all! And in my opinion, all girls are beautiful in their own way. And it says 'some girls are beautiful and some aren't'. So don't get this book."

Excellent beginners book for curious girls

This book, along with all of the other American Girl self help books, is an excellent tool for parents of pre-teen and young teen girls. My daughter is only nine (soon to be 10 in a few months) and she is already well into puberty. (How is this even possible!) She started getting curious about boys this year, and much to my dismay, I have even found scribblings in her room that say "I love ____ so much!" I immediately took it upon myself to go searching for help on how to have a discussion with my daughter since I have no clue, and my parents never had a discussion with me, so I am starting from scratch here. I pre-read the book, and found the first half of it to be perfect for us. It explains what her feelings are and why she is going through what she is experiencing and gives some tips for dealing with boys.

That being said, personally I feel that the second half of the book is a little mature for her now at this age. It deals more with going steady, girls fighting over boys, and dating which is NOT happening any time soon in this household. So, what I did was get one of those black binder clips and told her that she can only read the part that is not in the binder clip by herself. If she wants to read further, she can, but we have to do it together. She does not read the book in private so we can keep tabs on it. However, if a younger girl were to read the second half, I don't feel it is racy or anything like that, so it wouldn't be the end of the world or anything. I just would like to be there to help explain that this is what she will be experiencing as an older girl, and it is not time for her to be going steady at this point.

Overall, a very excellent tool to use and when the dog destoyed our first copy, I didn't hesitate to order it again to keep around as a reference she can go back to again and again.

A must have for girls just before middle school

I have a 10yo daughter. I found this book to be empowering and straight forward. It dealt with issues I did not know how to articulate to her in an age appropriate manner. I found it to be just informative enough but not too much. It celebrated girl hood but acknowledged and assisted with the awkward period of learning how to relate to boys. I loved the advise like "don't have a girlfriend talk to the boy for you" and stuff like that. And, it did not promote inappropriate behavior but simply dealt with those emerging feelings and adjustments that occur.
