About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR LINDA KING was raised in the wild back country of Boulder, Utah, which in now in the heart of STAIRCASE ESCALANTE NATONAL MONUMENT. It was one of the last towns in America to receive a road, built by the CCC boys and the last place mail was delivered by horseback. She has been a sculptor for over 50 years doing many portraits of writers and poets, including Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Farlinghetti, A.D.Winans, Jack Micheline, Harold Norse, Geraldine King and Jack Hirshman among others. Linda is a much published poet in her own right, published in many small press magazines, such as Wormwood Review, Half n’ Half, New York Quarterly, Pearl, Vagabond, Shameless Hussy, Purr, Rattle and many, many more. Her poems have been included in City Light Anthology, Vagabond Anthology, Let’s Drive The Staircase Escalante National Monument by Ann Reynolds, etc. Linda chapbooks are SWEET AND DIRTY (Vagabond Press), ME AND YOUR SOMETIMES LOVE POEMS with Charles Bukowski (Kisskill Press), THE SAVAGENESS OF MY DISCONTENT, I DANCE WITH A MAN LAST NIGHT, EXPOSED , THE ELEPHANT CHRONICLES and SEER BY THE SEA (Purring Press), and CURLED IN THE CURVE OF HIS BODY and THE WORLD IS NOT WHAT I THOUGHT (Sore Dove Press). Her books are FROM THE MOUTH OF ANGELS, Five Women Poets (Tweleve Gage Press), BUKOWSKI UNDIGESTED (Purring Press), and MAD OUIJA (soon to be released by Sore Dove Press.) Linda has been part of poetry readings with Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg and others. She has had many solo reading at Universities, galleries and bookstores. ONLY A TENANT (a play about Bukowski) was made into short movie in Malibu. Her book I DANCE WITH A MAN NIGHT was converted to an evening of theatre at Arizona State University. Her play was selected with ten other writers for COLLORATAL DAMAGE at Metro Arts in Phoenix, Az. She was part of Playwrights Workshop Theatre, taught by Raymond Shurtz for many years. Linda, now lives in San Francisco, close to her daughter and grandkids and continues to write, paint and sculpture. Hers older son lives in Chandler, AZ. Her youngest son lives in L.A. is a movie maker.

Another Take on Bukowski

While I agree about this book needing a strong edit, I think it's a better read than previous reviewers give it credit for. I can understand their chagrin as it's almost a stream-of-conscious narrative layered with page after page of Linda's poetry that pales in comparison to the smattering of typically terrific poems written by Bukowski to her or about her family.

She does offer stories and quotes from Bukowski that I found interesting and every so often some new fact or comment appears that make the read worthwhile. The last third of the book repeats itself or lapses into King's daily business and should have been cut. For some reason, King has an absurdly large number of chapters that can't be scrolled through on the Kindle.

Even if you've read everything there is about and written by Buk, don't skip this one. There are gems here waiting to be discovered.

One of Bukowski's most legendary women, featured in his book Women" gives her own view of their relationship with no holds barred. If you are shocked by a woman speaking as candidly about her sex life as Bukowski does about his, maybe you should look elsewhere!

was very disappointed in this product. The formatting was very poor (which to be fair may be a problem with the Kindle software used to read the product on my computer). However, there were formatting and alignment errors throughout that made it very difficult to keep track of where I was. For example, the B) and C) answers would run together with no spaces, or the answers would be on a different page than the question, making it time consuming to go back and forth. Also the fact that you cannot print it out meant that it was less like it will be during the test, when it will be easier to cross off answers you have eliminated.

There were also a huge number of typos or other content errors. 4 digit CPT codes, nonexistent ICD-9 codes (401.90??). One question talked about two co-surgeons, Drs White and Green, and then asked me to code Dr. Smith's services! There were also codes with transposed numbers and deleted codes.

This kind of error rate and user-unfriendliness is something I would expect out of a free product, not a $9.99 product, especially one where the only thing you are purchasing is the content (since it is not a paper book). If it had been free, I would have given it 2 stars because I did get some coding practice out of it, but for a paid-for product, this is unacceptable.

The answers had so little explanation as to be almost completely worthless. I had to research the answers on my own if I got them wrong.

About the Author

A self-taught photographer, Daniel DiTuro began a series of yoga photographs in 1999 shortly after taking his first yoga class. In 2001 he founded The Yoga Project to promote the physical and mental wellness of mind, body, and spirit through the creation and publication of inspirational and motivational meditation and yoga asanas photographs. In 2003, DiTuro, along with Martin Kirk and Brooke Boone, released the best-seller Hatha Yoga Illustrated, which contains over 600 of his yoga photographs.

DiTuro published his second book, Live Longer & Healthier Eating Foods You Love on a Southern Italian Mediterranean Diet, in August 2009, which was one of the selections for the United States in the 2010 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.

Coauthor Ingrid Yang embarked on her yoga journey in 1999 in New York City, where she studied directly with David Life at Jivamukti Yoga Center and Cyndi Lee at OM Yoga Center. She is the founder of Blue Point Yoga Center in Durham, North Carolina, and teaches a variety of yoga disciplines, including vinyasa, restorative, yin, and cancer therapy. She leads teacher trainings and workshops in the United States, Australia, and Asia.

Ingrid earned her law degree at Duke University and is currently pursuing a doctor of medicine degree with a focus on anatomy and physiatry at Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois.

Concise guide to yoga postures

This book combines beautiful photography with a simple, clear instruction manual to a wide range of asanas. I have come across many yoga instruction manuals in my thirteen years of teaching yoga, and I appreciate the simplicity and straight forwardness of this book. For each posture, the English and Sanskrit names are given, the difficulty level is ranked on a 1-10 scale, instruction are listed step-by-step, and a photograph shows the final posture. It is accessible for beginners, but also includes postures that are challenging for advanced practices. I will refer to this book in the future in my teaching, and will recommend it to my students who are looking for a concise illustrated guide to the asanas.

Simple yet thorough!!

Get this book! Finally, a short and sweet yoga book that breaks down the most popular poses in a clear, concise, and simple way. I have practiced for years and find that most yoga instruction is too detailed and does not leave much to the student's intuition. The beautiful photos of the various yogis are very inspiring as well!

Perfect reference guide for beginnerse and advanced yogis!

My friend sent me this book a few weeks ago and I use it almost every day now! I have been practicing yoga regularly for about 6 months now and have been struggling with understanding teachers when they use Sanskrit names for the poses in class. This book has been so helpful to understand what they want me to do and what poses they are referring to! I have been trying to practice more at home and I really like the photo accompanied with the simple and straightforward instructions. Most yoga books I've gotten are too complicated and I just give up, but the brief instructions with the full size photo are the perfect combination for me, since I've just started taking yoga and I want to get really good at it now! I am going to try to do at least one of the harder poses each week. I'm going to get this book for all my friends who like yoga too!
